CISA Integrating Climate Science & Decision Making in the Carolinas

CISA: Carolinas Integrated Sciences and Assessments, A NOAA RISA Team

About the RISA Program

CISA is one of 11 NOAA-funded Regional Integrated Sciences & Assessments (RISA) teams. These interdisciplinary research teams are designed to help expand and build the nation’s capacity to prepare for and adapt to climate variability and change.

RISA teams work with a wide range of public and private partners to

  • advance understanding of policy, planning, and management decision contexts and the tailored science best suited to inform these decisions;
  • support knowledge to action networks through direct engagement with decision makers and stakeholders;
  • innovate and develop climate services and the best practices to disseminate this information;
  • advance science policy through flexible governance structures that allow for different levels of interaction, coordination, collaboration, and information sharing with a variety of partners and stakeholders.

RISAs work with other regional climate service providers such as the DOI Climate Science Centers and Landscape Conservation Cooperatives, the USDA Climate Hubs, Regional Climate Centers, and state climate offices to coordinate and integrate efforts that best meet the needs of the public.
